(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – A Lakewood Ranch High School (LRHS) sophomore reflects on becoming a Technology Student Association (TSA) state officer.
LRHS Sophomore Colton McGill was elected Florida State Reporter at the recent TSA state conference. McGill ran a campaign based on several overhauls to communication within the Florida TSA community, beating several other candidates.
One of his major campaign ideas was the FLOW app, which he described as “a connection app for every student across our state to communicate about event help and questions concerning TSA.”
McGill is the first LRHS student to become a state officer since 2022. He was elected LRHS TSA president this school year and led LRHS to significant wins at the state’s conference.

McGill said, “The opportunity to run for State office was very impactful. I got to talk to hundreds of members and be more involved in the TSA community.
“My main role as State Reporter is making sure our state is giving clear communication to our members. This is through social media, information packets and more. “
McGill joins an officer team consisting of students from across Manatee County and Florida at large.
McGill said, “I am so excited for the opportunity to become Florida TSA State Reporter next year and to work with the awesome new officer team.”
