Caroline Bartlomiejczuk- Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The Lakewood Ranch High School (LRHS) track and field team competed in districts at Riverview High School for a chance to advance into regionals.
Mustangs could qualify for regionals by placing in the top two for an event.
Qualifiers include -
Kenneth Destefano – first place in 800
Zachariah Kersey – second place in 800
Boys 4x800 team – first place
Ethan VanHeerden – first place pole vault
Jonah Rademacher – second place pole vault
Liam St. John – first place javelin
Jenna Jahn – first place 400 hurdles
Girls 4x800 team – second place
Kayla Goodwin – first place discus
Kiki Bullas – first place javelin
Head Coach Bill Zarrella stated, “We have 16 athletes moving on but our whole team has done a fantastic job this year. Congratulations to everyone.”

Junior Addison Shear said, “I’m really excited to have made it this far because this event isn’t just about how you do individually but being a part of a team and I’m really grateful for all the memories I made this year.”
Sophomore Avery Stewart said, “I’m so proud of how I completed at districts. I got a personal record in the 800 and the 4x800, with a score that beat our states time last year. I have a good feeling about competing about regionals and I’m excited to see what happens.”
The regionals are scheduled for May 2 at Charlotte High School.
