Olivia Clapcich- Mustangs Ahead

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) - The Lakewood Ranch High School (LRHS) Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (JROTC) awards took place April 15.

Numerous scholarships given out, including $2,000 VFW scholarships awarded to Lakewood Ranch High School (LRHS) Mustangs Tatum Coleman, Tyler Owens, Gino Tambe, and the $2,500 Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) scholarship awarded to Elisa Massaro.

Owens said, "The award ceremony was something we have been preparing for a while now, and it went very smoothly. Everyone was honored for their hard work and our new leaders for next year were shown."

The 2026/2027 staff members were announced -

  • Battalion commander: Megan Edwards

  • Command Sergeant Major: Sebastian Stokes

  • Battalion Executive Officer: Nautica Brooks

Freshman Sabrina Holden, "The JROTC award ceremony was a fun experience as everyone was appreciated for what they earned throughout the year, I enjoyed getting the LET 1 superior cadet award as it shows how much my hard work paid off.”  LET1 (Leadership Education and Training 1) is the first-year curriculum for Army Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) cadets focusing on leadership, citizenship, and personal growth.
