Kayla Goodwin - Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – A Lakewood Ranch High School (LRHS) Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) member. senior Morgan Cunningham, qualified for Nationals.
Cunningham competed in “Teach or Train.” In her project she worked in an after-school program for elementary-aged students, and she noticed that many struggle to properly express their emotions. She identified a need for opportunities that allowed students to express emotions, and she did this through planning a series of engaging art lessons that helped students recognize their emotions, understand themselves, and communicate their thoughts.
She said, “I was very passionate about the topic of my project, which helped give me confidence when presenting at states. Getting less than a few points away from a perfect score helped me realize that hard work truly does pay off.”

Cunningham said, “I’ve gotten the honor to compete at nationals every single year, and its bittersweet knowing this will be my last. But I am super excited to represent our school in Washington D.C. this summer and I hope to end my journey strong, and I would love to get top ten this summer!”
