(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) - With high school graduation around the corner, senior Mustangs were asked about the most surprising part of college processes.
After being admitted to college, there are necessary items for students to complete, such as immunization forms, financial aid, and pre-orientation modules. These can be accessed on the college or university’s website, most likely somewhere in the student portal.
Senior Katie Welte said, “I was surprised about the length of the process after being admitted. There is an overwhelming number of steps that admitted students are required to complete by certain deadlines—it is important to stay on top of everything.”
It is important to stay on top of all the steps required to complete after admission, as they all have deadlines specific to the school.
It is also crucial to apply for scholarships, which greatly help college students financially. Some schools may offer certain scholarships or programs for students, so it is important to always check the portal.

LRHS Senior Mustangs were asked about which college processes surprised them the most.
Madelyn Boyd said, “The most shocking thing I found out about college was the limitation of financial aid, as I had always assumed there would be enough scholarships, grants, and support to cover my expenses, but I realized those forms of assistance are not always available to everyone.”
