Olivia Holden – Mustangs Ahead Senior Editor

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- Lakewood Ranch High School (LRHS) finished 11th in state in Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) Academic Team Champion Awards.  

FHSAA is the nonprofit governing body for interscholastic sports in FL public and elected private schools.  

At the end of each sports season and school year, FHSAA recognizes schools whose athletes have exceptional grade point averages (GPA’s).

LRHS spring sports did exceptionally well, with some teams finishing among the best in the state -  

  • Softball: 3.647 (Third Place) 

  • Boys Tennis: 3.705 (10th Place) 

  • Girls Track: 3.592 (11th Place) 

  • Boys Weightlifting: 3.306 (12th Place) 

  • Beach Volleyball: 3.685 (Fourth Place) 

This academic and athletic achievement serves as a testament to LRHS’s dedication to providing excellence in both fields. 

LRHS Athletic Director Kent Ringquist said the school has a legacy of combining academic with athletic success.     

“We believe it is important for our student athletes to succeed in the classroom,” he said.  “Lakewood Ranch is extremely proud of our student athletes. Each year, all of our teams qualify for the All-Academic Team. When we step onto the playing surface, we represent not only strong competitors but also outstanding students.”
