(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- Lakewood Ranch High School (LRHS) Mustang graduate Abby Frint received the 2026 Pre Professional Student of the Year Award from Athletic Trainers Association of Florida (ATAF).
The qualifications for this award are -
GPA of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale
Nominated by a certified and licensed athletic trainer in good standing with the BOC, NATA, ATAF, and Florida Department of Health.
High school or baccalaureate junior or senior to be nominated.
Intent to pursue the profession of athletic training.
Chosen by the Pre Professional Student Committee
Frint was officially recognized for her award and given a plaque at this summer’s ATAF symposium and awards gala. This event was filled with other athletic trainers who paved the way for the current generation.
Frint was honored to receive this award and said, “It felt so great winning the award and it was the best way to end my senior year...I was also able to network with many athletic trainers to prepare myself for the future, while also getting great advice from people in the career.
She added the best thing about being an LRHS trainer was the opportunity it presented.

“From field trips to the Tampa Bay lightning to being able to experience game days as a Trainer’s Assistant, I truly have a great foundation as I continue my education in college. Sydney Suppa (LRHS Head Athletic Trainer) has also been a great mentor that has supported me and always encourages me to pursue my dreams.”
Suppa praised Frint’s dedication and work ethic throughout her time in the program.
“From Abby's first week as a student athletic trainer, she quickly picked up on the needs of the program,” she stated. “She sees when something needs to be done and doesn't hesitate to do it.”
Frint plans to attend University of Florida (UF) in the fall, where she will pursue a degree in athletic training.
Suppa continued, “Abby is a special young woman and UF is lucky to have her.”
