Avery Stewart – Mustangs Ahead

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Over the summer, the Lakewood Ranch High School (LRHS) girls varsity and junior varsity (JV) teams were involved in a couple of events to prepare for the upcoming season.

The Lady Mustangs hosted the Empowered Athletes All Girls Sports Camp in July where girls from kindergarten to eighth grade could learn how to play a variety of sports through the school's soccer players.

Senior Julia Mulligan said, "This was a great opportunity to not only learn new leadership skills but to also teach girls of all ages how to play sports.”

Another activity that the Mustang girls soccer team participated in was the Empowered Athletes 5v5 tournament in August.

LRHS Girls Soccer Head Coach Cole Richardson hosted this event so that returning players could get on a field again while welcoming the freshmen who are interested in trying out.

By partaking in these activities, Richardson hopes that the girls can apply their new leadership skills to the 2026-2027 soccer season.
