Samantha Mattia – Mustangs Ahead

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) - As Lakewood Ranch High School (LRHS) Mustangs begin the 2026-2027 school year, the school clinic gets ready to provide students with another year of great care and first aid.

LRHS Registered Nurse (RN) Lisa Mattia and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Christine Sullivan do their best to make the clinic a place where safety and health are prioritized for students to feel helped and cared for.

Mattia mentioned that she sees her job as, “Be the nurse you would want as a patient.” She takes pride in helping students any way she can and ensuring that they are comfortable.

From organizing medical supplies to reviewing procedures and gathering student documents, the clinic staff is well prepared to respond to students' health needs efficiently.

Before students returned, the clinic made sure to stock up on supplies, track state immunizations, organize all procedures and records, and thoroughly prepare the space for student care.

When students walk in, they fill out a slip for the nurse to read, listing how they feel and what may be bothering them.

A vital portion of the clinic's preparation is ensuring that all students with medical needs receive appropriate care during the school day.

The school nurses at LRHS seek to best follow school health procedures while communicating with students, families, and staff when needed.
