Adriana Cantillon — Mustangs Ahead

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) — The Lakewood Ranch High School (LRHS) varsity volleyball team fell to Venice High School in three sets on Aug. 11.

The Lady Mustangs lost 13-25, 18-25 and 16-25.

Although they were unable to secure a win, several players had strong performances throughout the match.

Junior Adalynn Lund believed the team showed both positive moments and areas that still needed improvement.

"The team had its ups and downs and there is a lot to learn," Lund said.

"I think I played very well. My hitting felt great and my serve receive was great," Lund continued.

Lund also named Junior Claire Truong, Junior Gianna Platt and Jules Neri as some of the team's top players. Despite the loss, she said the team remains confident about the rest of the season.

"The season is looking good. We still have a lot to work on for the next game," Lund said.

The Mustangs returned to the court on Aug. 13 for another competitive match against Seacrest Country Day. The team lost16-25, 18-25, and 25-23.

Lund said the team played better than they had in their previous game. Truong and junior Bella Lorenzo stood out as the team's top players during the match.

"The game went a little better than Tuesday," Lund said.

Lund reflected on her performance.

"I did okay. I missed a couple of serves and I got blocked a couple of times. My setting variation was very good," she said.

The Mustangs next scheduled match is against Lemon Bay High School Aug. 18.
