(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) - Though baseball season begins in spring, the fall is when Lakewood Ranch High School (LRHS) freshmen and transfer students become acquainted with the team and coaches.

Morning workouts are scheduled to begin August 17 and there will also be workouts Wednesdays and Thursdays every week; players are expected to attend every single one, even though they aren't mandatory. They are to begin at 5:45 a.m., run by Coach Garret. Students won't miss any class time, as the workouts end at 7:00 a.m. Nov. 19 will be the final morning workout.

Like last year, LRHS head baseball coach Ian Desmond is creating a fall program, where two teams will be made after days of tryouts, and the younger team will be going against 17u talent, while the older group will be facing 19u talent.

August 19-21 will be the tryouts for the travel team, and once the teams are set, the first practice will be on Aug. 24. Practices are every Monday and Wednesday.

October 24-25 is the first varsity tournament; October 30- November 1 will be junior varsity's only tournament. Varsity's last tournament is set for November 19-22. The season ends after the final varsity tournament.

Junior Luke Hanson said, "I'm excited to play for varsity because I know my teammates have been improving over the summer, and I'm excited to see how the team will perform in fall and spring."

Spring tryouts are scheduled for early January and will stretch over multiple days. Each day will have new activities, and each day will come with cuts. The first spring practice is scheduled for January 14 and there will not be separate times for junior varsity (JV) and varsity; there will be one big tryout where every player will attend.
