Cate Kitcher - Mustangs Ahead

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- Lakewood Ranch High School’s (LRHS) Kari Keech-Babcock transitions from English teacher to Media Specialist for the 2026-27 school year.

LRHS media specialist Keech-Babcock stated, “I originally went into education with the hopes of becoming a media specialist. I love books and technology as well as building communities, so it just seemed to fit. I still teach two reading classes this year.”

Keech-Babcock brings many different types of experiences. When she was younger, she volunteered at a library while looking up to her mother working there. After choosing to get a degree in English with the hopes of getting this job but went into teaching originally.

“I feel the hardest part currently is the textbook intake and preparing them for everyone to come pick them up,” she shared.

Surrounded by books, Keech-Babcock hopes to share her love of reading, with her favorite book being the Lord of the Rings, and her goal to make this space a comfortable extension of the classroom.
