Colin Hymes – Mustangs Ahead

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) - Lakewood Ranch High School (LRHS) welcomes Olivia Weaver to its art department this year as she begins teaching 2-D Studio Art and Ceramics.

“LRHS is a great school in the area, so that's how I ended up here,” Weaver stated.  She is originally from the area and left but moved back to be closer to family.

In her classes, Weaver hopes to give students an opportunity to be more creative while also developing their artistic abilities.

According to Manatee Schools, the 2-D Studio Art course allows students to work with techniques such as drawing, painting, printmaking, collage and design, while ceramics gives students the opportunity to work with clay to make three-dimensional objects.

For Weaver, “One of the most rewarding parts of teaching art is seeing students become proud of what they create, especially when doing something new.”

As she begins her first year at LRHS, Weaver hopes students leave her classroom feeling inspired and more confident in their creativity.
