(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) - Lakewood Ranch High School’s (LRHS) varsity Mustangs dropped a close match against Braden River Thursday. 

The Mustangs (8-3) fell to the Pirates 25-20, 25-18, 22-25, 12-25, 8-15.

Earlier in the week the Mustangs dropped a match against Sarasota Riverview 25-21, 22-25, 16-25, 16-25.  The Mustangs’ next game is scheduled against Lemon Bay (2-4) next Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the junior varsity (JV) volleyball team continued its season with three matches this week, earning a win against Hardee before facing a tough loss to Riverview Sarasota.

The Lady Mustangs opened the stretch on Aug. 29 at their home JV tournament, defeating Hardee 2-0. LRHS came back after dropping one set to finish the match with a win.

The team then faced Riverview Sarasota on Sept. 1. The Mustangs struggled to find their rhythm and fell 0-2.

With the season continuing, the Lady Mustangs will look to build on their early success and use each match as an opportunity to improve their communication, consistency and teamwork.
