(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) The National Football League (NFL) 2026-27 season starts Wed., Sept. 9 when the defending Superbowl Champions Seattle Seahawks raise their second banner in franchise history.
The season starts with the defending champions Seahawks playing the New England Patriots in a Superbowl 60 rematch on Wednesday night at 8:20 p.m. The Patriots are looking to get revenge after they lost in the Superbowl last year 29-13.
Lakewood Ranch High School (LRHS) Senior Patriots fan Aiden Mandel said, "I think they've (New England) made a lot of good moves this offseason, and it will be exciting to see them play in this game."
The season continues Thursday night in Melbourne, Australia as the Los Angeles Rams play the San Fransico 49ers at 8:35p.m. The Rams made big offseason moves after adding start Defensive Tackle Myles Garrett to their team and veteran Aaron Donald came out of retirement to play for the team once again.
Sunday football starts again at 1p.m. on Sunday Sept. 13 and hosts eight games in total.

The New Orleans Saints play at the Detroit Lions, the Baltimore Ravens play at the Indianapolis Colts, the Cleveland Browns play at the Jacksonville Jaguars, the New York Jets play at the Tennessee Titans, the Buffalo Bills play at the Houston Texans, the Atlanta Falcons play at the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Chicago Bears play at the Carolina Panthers, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers play at the Cincinnati Bengals.
When asked about the game, Senior Buccaneers fan Aiden Forson said, "It's gonna be a high scoring and entertaining game, but the Bucs are going to win."
The next slate of games is at 4:25 p.m. and only has four games in preparation for Sunday Night Football.
The Green Bay Packers play at the Minnesota Vikings, the Arizona Cardinals play at the Los Angeles Chargers, the Washington Commanders play at the Philadelphia Eagles, and the Miami Dolphins play at the Las Vegas Raiders.
Sunday Night Football returns as the New York Giants host the Dallas Cowboys at 8:20 p.m.
When asked about the Giants season, Senior fan Nick Darpino said, “If we go .500 (.500 means winning and losing equal numbers of games) this season, we’ll be the funniest team to go .500.”
The last game of the week is Monday night football as the Kansas City Chiefs host the Denver Broncos for their home opener.
