Thomas Baker—Mustangs Ahead

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) - As the 2026 National Football League (NFL) season gets underway, fantasy football is a popular way for Lakewood Ranch High School (LRHS) students to become more involved with the sport.

Fantasy football allows students to create their own teams using NFL players and follow their performances throughout the season. The activity can give Mustangs another reason to watch games and pay attention to players across the league.

LRHS senior Elliot Brumfiel is excited to start his fantasy football season and expects his team to perform well.

Brumfiel stated, “I’m really excited for this season. I think I have a great team with players like Ja’Marr Chase, Bijan Robinson, and Jalen Hurts. I definitely expect to do well this year and hopefully make it to the playoffs.”

Fantasy football can also change the way Mustangs watch NFL games. Students may become more interested in games involving players on their fantasy teams, even when their favorite team is not playing.

Senior Jackson Brock is also looking forward to competing in fantasy football this season.

Brock stated, “I think my team is going to be really good this year. I’m excited to watch guys like Patrick Mahomes and Saquon Barkley. I’m expecting to have a winning season and hopefully be one of the best teams in the league.”

Fantasy football can encourage Mustangs to learn more about NFL players, statistics, and weekly performances. It can also give friends and classmates something to discuss throughout the season.
