(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) - Every school has unique traditions that the students look forward to throughout the year. These traditions help to make the school more enjoyable and bring people together with school spirit.

Lakewood Ranch High School’s (LRHS’S) specific traditions can be memorable parts of the year for all students. Some examples are school dances, spirit week dress up and events, football season, and senior traditions.

LRHS senior Gigi Haines stated, “My favorite tradition at school is homecoming week. I love dressing up to match the theme, and it makes the week building up to homecoming much more exciting.”

The week prior to the homecoming dance is spirit week when students get to wear creative outfits to match daily themes. Many students look forward to seeing what their classmates come up with and participating in an important opportunity to show school spirit.

LRHS sophomore Lola Smyth said, “My favorite tradition at our school is homecoming. I love picking out my dress and going to the dance with all my friends.”

Every year LRHS also has the annual homecoming dance, usually in the month of October, to bring all the students together.

Senior Kirsten Smallwood claimed “My favorite LRHS tradition is the Friday night football games. I am a part of the cheer team which creates such a fun environment for me and my friends to support the school.”

Football games can be the most inclusive tradition for the school. Some students are on the field, while others cheer on the sidelines or in the stands.

Annual traditions are such important pieces of the school year and bring a sense of excitement and fun for all the students.
