                            Lillian Pevner-Downer—Mustangs Ahead

(Lakewood Ranch, FL)- The Lakewood Ranch High School (LRHS) Science and Engineering Fair Club kicked off its first meeting last Tuesday.

The Club provides a space where members can collaborate with their peers and receive support from teachers and mentors. For those returning to the club, it provides an opportunity to build on past experiences or take on new challenges.

Junior Selma Onus participated in the club last year, taking her project all the way to the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF). This year, she is eager to build on that momentum.

“I’m super excited to be in the club again this year because i have the opportunity to spend more time building upon my previous projects more in-depth,” she said. Her goal is to make it to ISEF again this year.

Sophomore Wrenn Pevzner Joined the club as a freshman and is setting new goals for herself this year.

“I am excited to work on a new project,” Pevzner shared. After her project didn't make the cut for the county round last year, she is working hard to get there this year.

Regardless of the students' experience with science Fair, the club offers a space for anyone interested in STEM.

“This is a space for everyone to explore science, and we have something for everyone,” says club president and junior Sophie Mitchell.

Mitchell and the rest of the leadership team hope to see club attendance grow as the students begin their experiments in the coming weeks.

Mustangs interested in joining the club can stop by LRHS science teacher Alexandria Wilcoxen’s room 608.
