(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The LRHS boys wrestling team has been showing lots of potential going into the 2026-2027 season with their returning Head Coach Patrick Ancil and Assistant Coach Nathaniel Lancaster.

Coaches Ancil and Lancaster have very high hopes for the team this year with a lot of new Mustangs showing a lot of potential.

"The key for new guys to improve as much as possible is to stay consistent with coming to practice and stay after as much as you can to make sure you get better," said Lancaster.

Sophomore Jaxon Morgan said, "The team is looking very promising. All the weight classes are filled out.”

Morgan continued, "The team's chemistry has been good, and everyone seems to get along with each other, but if we want to have a shot at the state tournament this year, we really need to work on our cardio and endurance. Even though our practice has been intense, we still have a long way to go if we want to make the state tournament."

Morgan is most looking forward to the in-school duals. This happens on a Friday where students on the team wrestle each other Infront of their fellow peers where the only reward is their pride.
