(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) - Tuesday, Oct. 13 marked the first day of Lakewood Ranch High School’s (LRHS) Homecoming Spirit Week, planned and put on by the LRHS Student Government Association (SGA).

The first day of the week was celebrated with Class Color Day, and Mustangs were encouraged to wear different colored clothing that matches their grade’s set color.

The SGA listed the freshman color as pink, sophomores as blue, juniors as yellow, and seniors as purple.

Each day of the week has a new theme and SGA has urged Mustangs to dress up and participate.

After the first day of “Class Color,” Wednesday, Oct. 14 will be “Meme Day,” Thursday being “Throwback Thursday,” Friday is “Mustang Spirit” or “Western Themed,” and Saturday sees a Wizard of Oz themed dance at the school.

Sophomore Riley Williamson commented, “I wore blue today to represent my class and to enjoy the week leading up to HOCO.”

During lunches, SGA came down and blasted energetic music to kick off spirit week and held a competition of those who had the most spirited based outfits while students voted for their favorites by cheering.

Senior Olivia Holden was a first-place champion at the B-lunch spirit rally, where she gathered the most cheers for her decked out purple outfit.

Holden shared, “I love homecoming spirit week, especially as a senior, it gives me a fun way to go all out for my school and with my friends.”

Even LRHS staff were encouraged to dress up in their planned color; orange, and many teachers and faculty joined in to create a memory with students.
