The School District has received nomination submissions from both community members and Manatee County Government requesting that the park adjacent to Martha B. King Middle School be named the DePalmer– Bollettieri Courts. The School Board approved during their June 23rd meeting to advertise the naming nomination of the courts located in the park adjacent to Marth B. King Middle School. These nominations recognize the lasting contributions and impact of Mike DePalmer and Nick Bollettieri on the community and the sport of tennis.

Board Policy 7250, Commemoration of School Facilities, establishes the process and criteria for naming School District facilities or portions thereof, including recognition of individuals who have made significant contributions to the School District or community.

A public notice and input period of 60 days is required. Following this period, the nominations will be presented to the School Board for consideration and a formal vote. The item is currently scheduled to return to the School Board for consideration and a final vote on September 8, 2026.
