- Bottoms can be jeans or denim on Fridays only.
Student uniform items may be purchased at any retail outlet as long as they meet the school uniform criteria except for official BRE uniform “Dri-fit” shirts. The only acceptable non-collared shirts (except for Spirit Days on Fridays) will be the uniform “Dri-fit” shirts with the BRE logo.
Any items worn under uniform clothes must be solid appropriate uniform colors for the item under which they are worn. Oversized, baggy, extremely tight or ill-fitting clothing is not allowed. Any logos on clothing other than the official BRE logo must be less than 1 ½ inches in diameter. If belts are to be worn, they will fasten and shall be black, brown, or khaki.
Sweatshirts, jackets, or outer garments may be worn. Outer wear items such as lighter jackets, sweatshirts, hoodies, or sweaters are to be in the school uniform shirt colors of navy blue, light blue, white or red. On very cold days, heavier jackets or outer garments in any color or style may be worn to and from school.
Footwear must be appropriate for school and follow the current Manatee County School Board Policy. For safety reasons, flip flops are not to be worn.
Our uniform policy is mandatory for every student who attends BRE. The exceptions would be for those with strict religious beliefs regarding clothing as well as those participating in Boy or Girl Scouts or other national organizations which have their own uniforms. Students are welcome to represent these organizations on the day of their meeting by wearing appropriate attire.
BRE will have our own “store” for those who would like to donate uniforms that are new or used and still in good condition. This store will be open to anyone in need of assistance or for supplies needed temporarily by the school clinic.
Information regarding financial hardship applications or exemption procedures is available in the school office.
If a student comes to school out of uniform, the following actions may take place:
- A verbal warning may be given from a staff member to the student and/or a note may be sent home.
- A letter from the principal may be sent home requiring a reply from the parent/guardian.
- The student may be required to change into clothing that complies with the uniform policy.
- Parent/guardian may be contacted and required to bring appropriate attire to school for the child. A conference may then be scheduled with the principal.
A student new to Braden River Elementary has 10 days to comply with the school uniform policy.
In addition to the guidelines above, BRE continues to follow the Manatee School Board Dress Code Policy
