Just a quick update to let you know that Quarter 1 Report Cards are now available in Focus. Attached is a guide for families for how to access them.
If you are new to Florida High Schools, it is important that you know GPAs are only calculated AFTER Quarter 2 because high school courses are earned in semester or year long credits. That means Quarter 1 grades are not the "end of the story" and are not entered on the student's transcript.
There is time to adjust and have a strong impact on the "transcript official" grade!
If you have questions about grades or the Quarter 1 Report Card, there are a couple strategies you can use:
Ask your student to sit with you and go through the gradebook for a course. Discuss what assignments most impacted the overall grade and what plans can be put in place.
Discuss using the BRHS Student Handbook, which includes planning goals, assignment trackers for each month, and graduation information.
If there is a specific concern about a class, communicate with the teacher about how to best support the student learning.
