Army JROTC
Leadership Education & Training 11801300 | Grades 9 - 12
The first year of JROTC introduces students to American symbolism, customs and courtesies, values, ethics, and military traditions. It also offers an introduction to community service projects, basic leadership skills, principles of leadership and learning strategies. Discussions cover the purpose of Army JROTC, equal opportunity and diversity, and sexual harassment awareness and prevention. Opportunities exist to participate in extracurricular competitive teams and activities. Students will participate in mandatory dress uniform wear on the designated uniform wear day. When worn, the JROTC uniform must always be worn properly, both on and off campus. Each week, students will be evaluated on their proper grooming and uniform wear during the student-led uniform inspection. Grooming requires proper care and appearance of fingernails, hair, jewelry, and ear piercings as detailed in Cadet Command Regulation 145-2 (JROTC Organization, Operations, Training, and Support). Finally, weekly physical training (PT) sessions will be conducted by all students in the proper PT uniform. Attendance, leadership, properly dressing out on uniform inspection days, as well as dressing out for and participating in PT, class participation, academics, quizzes, and exams will determine the student’s grades. A class fee of $25.00 is required to purchase the PCHS JROTC Physical Training Uniform. Additionally, any student participating in JROTC events outside the regular school bell schedule is required by the State of Florida to purchase JROTC School Insurance for $15.00. The insurance is purchased directly by the parent or guardian through the School Insurance of Florida website (information will be provided at the start of the school year).
Leadership Education & Training 2

The second-year course continues the objectives of leadership education with increased emphasis on all areas of leadership development. Cadets will focus on values, as well as principles of the BE, KNOW, and DO attributes. There is also an introduction to first aid, land navigation, healthy lifestyle, development of social responsibility, conflict resolution, and participation in service - learning projects. Students continue to participate in extracurricular competitions and PT in order to further develop motor skills and dexterity. Students will supervise and participate in mandatory dress uniform wear on the designated uniform wear day. When worn, the JROTC uniform must always be worn properly, both on and off campus. The students will be evaluated on their proper grooming and uniform wear during the student-led uniform inspection. Grooming requires proper care and appearance of fingernails, hair, jewelry, and ear piercings as detailed in Cadet Command Regulation 145-2 (JROTC Organization, Operations, Training, and Support). Students will supervise and participate in Physical Training (PT) sessions in proper PT uniforms. Leadership Education & Training 3
1801320 | Grades 11 - 12
The third-year students will begin the planning, decision-making, & problem-solving processes, and will have opportunities to supervise in roles of increased rank and responsibility. Students will look more into the understanding of human needs, start the mentoring and teaching process, and will assume company-level leadership positions and/or positions on the battalion staff. The course prepares students to assume key leadership positions through counseling and demonstrated leadership skills. Students will lead large groups of students during extracurricular competitive team practices and competitions. Third-year students interested in a four-year ROTC scholarship will have the opportunity to start the process of competing for a full scholarship. Attendance, leadership, properly dressing out on uniform inspection days, as well as dressing out for and participating in PT, class participation, academics, quizzes, and Exams will determine the student’s grades. Students will supervise and participate in mandatory dress uniform wear on the designated uniform wear day. When worn, the JROTC uniform must always be worn properly, both on and off campus. Leadership Education & Training 4

Fourth year JROTC students assume key leadership positions and gain experience as mentors, coaches, teachers and start the teamwork process for the younger students. The students are introduced to financial planning, career planning, scholarship opportunities, and lead in various community and school related activities. Students will continue leadership development as leaders on teams and small groups. Students will supervise and participate in mandatory dress uniform wear on the designated uniform wear day. When worn, the JROTC uniform must always be worn properly, both on and off campus. The students will be evaluated on their proper grooming and uniform wear during the student-led uniform inspection. Grooming requires proper care and appearance of fingernails, hair, jewelry, and ear piercings as detailed in Cadet Command Regulation 145-2 (JROTC Organization, Operations, Training, and Support). Leadership Strategies Honors*
2400320 | Grades 10 - 12
The intent of this honors course is to facilitate the integration and collaboration of the battalion staff and company leadership command teams. Students will perform daily operational functions of running the Bulls Battalion (which is modeled after an Army battalion).
The student’s grade will be based on their development, management and execution of programs within the student leader’s sphere of influence. This course is offered as a second leadership course for all key leaders within the JROTC program. This course will only be offered during one class period each school year. Key leaders and staff members are expected to participate in, and lead Cadets at extracurricular and community outreach activities.
A class fee of $35.00 is required for the purchase of the PCHS JROTC Polo shirt, which will be worn by key leaders at special functions, as well as one day per week during class.
Prerequisite: students must be concurrently enrolled in JROTC, as a LET 2, LET 3, or LET 4. Additionally, the student must receive JROTC instructor approval. This course is not offered to LET 1 JROTC students.
Approaches to Leadership Honors*

The intent of this honors course is to further integrate and collaborate the battalion staff and company leadership command teams. Students will perform operational functions, as senior key leaders in the daily running of the Bulls Battalion.
The student’s grades will be based on their development, management and execution of service-learning, cadet improvement, and JPA programs within the student leader’s sphere of influence. This course is offered as a second honors course for all key leaders within the JROTC program. This course will only be offered during one class period each school year. All key leaders and staff members are expected to participate in, and lead Cadets at extracurricular and community outreach activities.
A class fee of $35.00 is required for the purchase of the PCHS JROTC Polo shirt, which will be worn by key leaders at special functions, as well as one day per week during class.
Prerequisite: students must be concurrently enrolled in JROTC, as a LET 2, LET 3, or LET 4. Additionally, the student must have successfully completed Leadership Strategies (Honors) 2400320, and receive the JROTC instructor’s approval. This course is not offered to LET I JROTC students.

Executive Internship 1 - 3 (Office Aide)

This course provides an introduction and opportunities for leadership in the areas of service-learning and civic responsibility. Academic, personal, and career skills needed for effective service-learning project implementation will be taught and applied through structured service projects that meet real school and/or community needs. Students will rotate through various learning experiences throughout the school support offices.
Prerequisite: Students must complete this application and have a 3.0 unweighted GPA or higher.
Peers as Partners in Learning

Students enrolled in this course will learn and apply knowledge and skilled practices in the areas of academic engagement, communication, social barriers, leadership, problem-solving, and other disability-related topics such as historical perspectives, inclusion, Universal Design for Learning, person-first language, presumed competence, social justice for minority populations, and media representation of diverse people.
Prerequisite: Students must complete an application and be accepted into the program. Acceptance will be based on GPA, attendance, and discipline record.
Student Government
Leadership Skills Development - SGA
2400300 | Grades 10 - 12
The purpose of this course is to teach leadership skills, parliamentary procedure, problem-solving, decision-making, communication skills, group dynamics, time & stress management, public speaking, human relations, public relations, team building, & other group processes. Students in this class will be part of PCHS SGA Club. SGA focuses on promoting student involvement in school-related activities and events and works to boost school morale.
Prerequisite: Application is required. Also, students must be a club member of PCHS Student Government Association OR another high school leadership program for at least one semester to be eligible for this course.
Leadership Techniques - SGA*

This course will provide an in-depth study of the leadership techniques of decision-making, problem-solving, meeting skills, communication, group conflict resolution, time and stress management, evaluation, team building, group dynamics, motivational strategy, and the role of leadership in a democratic society. SGA focuses on promoting student involvement in school-related activities and events and works to boost school morale.
Prerequisite: Application is required. Students must have earned credit in Leadership Skills Development to be eligible for this course.
