Medical Pathways
There are two medical pathways to follow at Parrish Community, the standard path and the honors path.
Standard Path
- Students in 9th grade take Medical Skills and Services.
- Health Science Anatomy & Physiology Honors. Students in 10th grade take A&P Honors as well as Biology (unless already completed).
- Students in 11th grade take Health Science Foundations. Juniors also have an opportunity to enroll in the Practical Nursing Program in semester 2 of their junior year.
- Students in 12th grade have three options. First, they may enroll at Manatee Technical College in either the Pharmacy Technician or Patient Care Technician program. Second, they may dual enroll at State College of Florida. Third, they may continue advanced science classes at PCHS. This would include the Allied Health Assisting 3 course. Students should speak with their school counselor about the options for senior year.
Honors Path
- Students in 9th grade take Health Science Anatomy & Physiology Honors and Honors Biology.
- Students in 10th grade take Health Science Foundations.
- Students in 11th grade take Allied Health Assisting 3 and Advanced Placement Biology. Juniors also have an opportunity to enroll in the Practical Nursing Program in semester 2 of their junior year.
- Students in 12th grade have three options. First, they may enroll at Manatee Technical College in either the Pharmacy Technician or Patient Care Technician program. Second, they may dual enroll at State College of Florida. Third, they may continue advanced Pre-Med science courses at PCHS. Students should speak with their school counselor about the options for senior year. Students enrolling in Pharmacy Tech, a PCT program at MTC, will receive credit hours earned towards the program for maintaining a B average or higher in Anatomy & Physiology Honors and Health Foundation classes.
