Brass + Woodwind (Band 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 Honors)
There are two class periods for Brass and Woodwind students during the school day - a class for Band 1 students and a class for Band 2-5. In addition to that, there are separate classes for Drumline/Percussion (Music Techniques) and Nolettes (Eurhythmics). These classes all serve as a hub for all band courses/ensembles. Students practice ALL music in ALL classes, depending on the time of year - Marching Band, Jazz Band, (Renegade Jazz I + Cimarron Jazz II), Concert Band (Wind Ensemble I + Symphonic Band II), Solo & Ensemble MPA/In-Class Solo & Ensemble, and Symphony Orchestra. Both Concert Bands have a handful of performances throughout the year. Students will either be placed in Wind Ensemble I - the top band, or Symphonic Band II. Drumline/Percussion (Instrumental Techniques 1, 2, 3, 4)
There is one class period for Drumline/Percussion students during the school day (the official course name is Instrumental Techniques). This course is designed for students in Drumline/Marching Band. Students practice ALL music during this class period, depending on the time of year - Marching Band, Drumline Cadences, Percussion Ensemble, Concert Band (Wind Ensemble I + Symphonic Band II), Jazz Band (Renegade Jazz I + Cimarron Jazz II), Solo & Ensemble/In-Class Solo & Ensemble, and Symphony Orchestra. Marching Band (Music Ensembles 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 Honors After School)
The Marching 'Noles uphold a long tradition of excellence at Southeast High School. The Marching 'Noles travel and participate in various competitions, parades, football games, and other band trips throughout the season. Marching Band is a year-long 1-credit afterschool class in which students earn a grade. Please refer to the band calendar for dates/times of practices/performances. ALL Marching Band members are required to be enrolled in this course in addition to being enrolled in at least one of the band-related courses during the school day (woodwind, brass, drumline/percussion, Nolettes). Jazz Band (Music Ensembles 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 Honors After School)
Our Jazz Bands are made up of saxophones, trombones, trumpets, piano, guitar, bass guitar, drum-set, and vocalists. However, other instrumentalists are encouraged and welcome to join! Both Jazz Bands perform for various events for the school and community, including our Middle School Outreach trips in the winter. Jazz Band is a year-long 1-credit afterschool course (Music Ensembles) in which students earn a grade. ALL Jazz Band members are also required to be enrolled in at least one of the band-related courses during the school day (woodwind, brass, drumline/percussion, Nolettes). Generally speaking, both Jazz Bands meet Tuesday and Thursday (2:30-4:30pm) after school starting in November. Please refer to the band calendar for exact dates/times of practices/ performances. IB Music

The IB Music course is designed for juniors (with prior experience in music) in the International Baccalaureate Program at Southeast High School. It is offered during the regular school day. In addition to being in IB Music, students must also be in a performance-based music course during the regular school day. Coursework includes listening to an array of music from all time periods, and also covers music history, analysis, and theory. 50% of the IB Music grade is determined from a solo or group recording, 20% from the Musical Links Investigation (MI), and 30% from the IB Music Exam in May.
