The Exceptional Student Education (ESE) Department provides support for Students with Disabilities (SWD) who are eligible for special education services. The School District of Manatee County provides a continuum of services to meet the individual needs of our students with disabilities.
Manatee County Schools serves approximately 10,000 students with disabilities, with a continuum of services, in a variety of settings. Services for many SWD are provided at their neighborhood school. Students with Individual Education Plans (IEP) are supported based on their individual needs. Manatee County School District collaborates with discretionary projects such as Florida Inclusion Network (FIN), Florida Diagnostic and Learning Resources System (FDLRS), and the Multiagency Network for Students with Emotional/Behavioral Disabilities (SEDNET). We also collaborate with Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (CARD).
