      Opening Plan

      • Limited Opening for 2025-2026 School Year

School opens August 2025 for students in grades 4, 5 and 6.
Goal is to open with limited enrollment to accommodate ongoing construction on campus, and to save capacity for continued growth.
Priority need is for relief of Harvey Elementary attendance zone.

Due to new elementary schools opening in 2026-2027, it will be necessary to adjust boundaries during calendar year 2025.
Creating an attendance zone for Barbara A. Harvey K-8 now would result in some families moving schools twice, so there is no residential attendance zone for 2025-2026.

School expands August 2026 for students in grade 7.
Grade 8 will open August 2026 or 2027.

An attendance zone will be established during calendar year 2025, to take effect in 2026-2027 along with new attendance zones for the new elementary schools.

        Grades 4 & 5

Current students in grades 3 and 4 who were reassigned from Harvey Elementary to Mills Elementary for 2024-2025 have the option to join the next grade level at Barbara A. Harvey K-8 or remain at Mills Elementary (no transportation) for 2025-2026.

Current students in grade 3 at Harvey Elementary will move to Grade 4 at Barbara A. Harvey K-8.

Current students in grade 4 at Harvey Elementary will move to Grade 5 at Barbara A. Harvey K-8.

Current students in grades 3 or 4 at Harvey Elementary that do not wish to move to Barbara A. Harvey K-8 may request reassignment to Mills Elementary (no transportation) or apply for another School Choice option for 2025-2026.

        Grade 6

To accomplish a limited opening for the 2025-2026 school year, a select number of students in grade 5 at Harvey Elementary may enter Grade 6 at Barbara A. Harvey K-8, including any students in grade 5 who were reassigned from Harvey Elementary to Mills Elementary for 2024-2025. The anticipated process will be:

        1. Invite these families to attend an information meeting in October 2024, hosted by Executive Principal Rio and Director Clark.
        2. Families who wish to be considered for this option will apply for reassignment.
        3. After random selection, any remaining seats, if available, will be allocated for hardship application.

        Other Considerations

Transportation will be provided to eligible students via either dedicated routes to Barbara A. Harvey K-8 or through shuttle service between the two campuses.

Barbara A. Harvey K-8 is anticipated to have a unique start and dismissal time to accommodate shuttle service and vehicle traffic between campuses.

School Board to identify name of school facilities per Policy 7250.
